Last updated 18 September 2026. These terms apply to the Mentr app for iPhone and Android.
Mentr helps students find other students who did well in a course, so they can meet and study together. By creating an account you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose. How Mentr handles your data is explained in the separate privacy note.
Who runs Mentr
Mentr is run by Alexandros Kalligas, a student. It is free, and it is not part of, run by or endorsed by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).

Who can use it
- Students and staff with a TU/e email address, aged 16 or older.
- One account per person. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens with your account.
- Use your real study details. Your display name may be a nickname, but do not pretend to be someone else.
No tolerance for abuse
Mentr has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You may not use Mentr, in your profile, listings, requests or messages, or at a meeting arranged through it, to:
- harass, bully, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone;
- post hateful, discriminatory, sexual, violent or otherwise offensive content;
- advertise, spam, or ask people to pay for things other than the tutoring you agreed on;
- share someone else's personal details, photos or messages without their permission;
- break the law or help someone else break it.
Anyone can report a user, a listing or a chat from inside the app, and block anyone. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. Content that breaks these terms is removed, and the account behind it is suspended or deleted, without warning if needed.
Honest listings and fair study
- Grades must be true. The grade on a listing must be the one Osiris shows for you, and you must be willing to show it at a meeting. The same goes for saying you were a teaching assistant. A false grade gets the listing removed, and repeated ones the account.
- Help people understand, do not do their work. Explaining material, working through practice problems and reviewing old exams that the course makes available are fine. Doing graded work (homework, assignments, projects, tests or exams) for someone else, or sharing material you are not allowed to share, is not. TU/e's own rules on fraud apply to you whether or not you use Mentr.
Meeting other students
- Tutors on Mentr are students, not employees or agents of Mentr, and Mentr does not check them beyond their TU/e email address. Everyone chooses for themselves whom to meet.
- Meet in a public place, preferably on campus. Leave, block and report if anything feels wrong. In an emergency, call 112.
- Whether tutoring is free or paid, and when, where and how it happens, is agreed between the two of you. Mentr takes no part in payments and takes no cut.
What you post
Your profile, listings and messages stay yours. You allow Mentr to store them and show them to the other users who need to see them, as described in the privacy note, for as long as that is needed to run the app.
No guarantees
Mentr is a free service made by one student and is provided as it is. It may have bugs, be unavailable at times, or be changed or stopped. Mentr does not promise that a tutor is available, that their help is correct, or that it improves your grades. As far as the law allows, Mentr is not liable for anything that happens at or because of a meeting between users, or for the loss of data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence.
Ending
You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Settings. Mentr can suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms. The privacy note says what is kept after an account is deleted.
Changes and law
When these terms change, the date at the top changes and a change that matters to you is announced in the app. Using Mentr after that means you accept the new terms. Dutch law applies.
